چکیده

Photonic networking technologies have the potential to revolutionise future military aircraft data communications, delivering substantial improvements in networking performance, reliability, cost and security. More particularly, wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) can provide a huge bandwidth-to-weight ratio as well as enhanced routing flexibility, connectivity and network survivability. In this paper, the envisaged functional and operational requirements of next-generation avionics communications architectures are first discussed. Then a suitable high performance, high connectivity photonic network architecture is proposed, which, for the first time, uses a novel adaptation of Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) to enable operation in the hostile aerospace environment without additional environmental conditioning. COTS compliance, protocol support and the relative performance of various operating modes are also examined.

Novel Four-Channel All Optical Demultiplexer Based on Square PhCRR for Using WDM Applications

Ring resonators have always been referred to as a highly flexible structurefor designing optical devices. In this study, we have designed and simulation a fourchannel optical demultiplexer using square photonic crystal ring resonator. The squarelattice constant for this purpose structure is used. The purposed structure has an averagecrosstalk, transmission coefficient, q...

Improving Performance of SDH/SONET-WDM Multilayer Networks Using Weighted Integrated Routing

This work deals with routing schemes in SDH/SONET-WDM multilayer networks applying Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) or Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) on top of a dynamic photonic network in Wavelength Division Multiplex technology (WDM). The focus are integrated routing schemes which benefit from an integrated view of the SDH/SONET layer and the optical layer. Besides the comparison of ...

Demonstration of WDM weighted addition for principal component analysis.

We consider an optical technique for performing tunable weighted addition using wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) inputs, the enabling function of a recently proposed photonic spike processing architecture [J. Lightwave Technol., 32 (2014)]. WDM weighted addition provides important advantages to performance, integrability, and networking capability that were not possible in any past approac...

Design of an Improved Optical Filter Based on Dual-Curved PCRR for WDM Systems

In this paper, an optical filter based on a two dimensional photonic crystalring resonator (PCRR) with triangular lattice is designed and presented. For thispurpose, the effects of positioning, arrangement and the number of the inner rods of thedual-curved PCRR on the performance characteristics of our optical filter such as thetransmission coefficient and the quality factor have been fully inv...

Design and Analysis of a Novel Hexagonal Shaped Channel Drop Filter Based on Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystals

In this paper a new optical channel drop filter (CDF) based on two dimensional (2-D) photonic crystals (PhC) with hexagonal shaped structure is proposed and numerically demonstrated by using the finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) and plane-wave-expansion (PWE) techniques. Photonic crystals (PhCs) are artificial dielectric nanostructure materials in which a periodic modulation of the material ...
